The Redhawks are coming off a 3-0 weekend at home, collecting wins over Cal State Fullerton (3-2), Idaho (3-2) and Manhattan (3-1). SIUE, who will play Austin Peay prior to hosting the Falcons, is currently 2-4 on the year, following a 2-1 weekend against Indiana State (3-1), Merrimack (3-2) and Northern Illinois (0-3) at the Huskies' Invitational. Austing Peay enters the weekend with a 1-5 record, picking up their first win of the year (3-1 over Murray State) in its final match of the Billiken Invitational that also included 0-3 losses to Saint Louis and Western Illinois.
HISTORY 101
Air Force has a brief 1-5 history against this weekend's three opponents. The Falcons, who will be facing Seattle for the second time in five matches this year, are 1-3 all-time against the Redhawks – with all three losses coming on a neutral floor. Air Force, making their first trip to Edwardsville in 17 years, is 0-2 lifetime against the Cougars. This is the Falcons' first-ever meeting with Austin Peay.
YOU LOOK FAMILIAR
The Falcons and Redhawks faced off earlier this year in the finale of the Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic – a winner-take-all match that was easily won Air Force in a 25-12, 25-17, 25-11 sweep. The Falcons dominated the match, maintaining the lead throughout all three sets and never allowing more than six tied scores.
UNDEFEATED!
With a 6-0 start to the 2025 season, Air Force has already doubled its win total from the 2024 season. Air Force is off to its second 6-0 start in four years – joining the 2022 squad that rolled through the Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic and Brown Invitational. Highlighted by the only two undefeated six-match starts at the Division I level, the Falcons have started .500 or better 14 times in 29 years – with nine winning-record (4-2, 5-1, 6-0) starts.
DIGGING THEM OUT
Jordan Suan reached a statistical milestone in the waning moments of the Falcons' five-set thriller over George Mason on Sept 7, as she became the fourth Falcon in Division I history account for 1000 digs in a career. With the next-to-last tally of her 19-dig afternoon, Suan reached the 1000-dig plateau, joining Rebecca Bates (1339; 2012-15), Maiya Perich (1327; 2009-12) and Alex King (1059; 2017-20).
WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force returns to the Academy next weekend to host Denver, Northern Colorado and Utah Tech at the Into the Blue Invitational on Sept. 18-20. The Falcons will honor former head coach Matt McShane, who passed away in November 2024, during their contest with the Bears on Friday, Sept. 19.
