USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Senior Delavane Diaz (Tampa, Fla.) was named to the Academic All-District VII Volleyball First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, Nov. 13. Diaz currently boasts a 3.80 grade-point-average in Astronautical Engineering.

Diaz has led the Mountain West Conference in kills for 11 consecutive weeks, currently averaging 5.00 kills per game. She posted a new all-time Air Force and Mountain West record of 41 kills in a match against Southern Miss on Sept. 13. She also set the single-season record at the Academy for service aces in a game, with seven against Denver on Oct. 21.

To be nominated for the CoSIDA All-Academic district team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, academically and athletically, with a GPA of at least 3.20. They must also be a starter or key reserve on their respective team. Once nominated, members of CoSIDA vote on who is named to the first- and second team.

In District VII, 58 student-athletes were nominated from 17 different schools, with six being selected to the first-team and six being named to the second.

Diaz, along with the other five first-team members, will now move on to the national ballot for consideration of being named to the Academic All-America team.
