Kim Kallabis Named to Academic All-District Team
Nov. 8, 2007
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force senior setter Kim Kallabis was selected to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Volleyball Academic All-America District VII Second-Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced today (Nov. 8). This is the first such academic award for Kallabis.
Holding a dual-major GPA of 3.68 in mathematics and operations research, Kallabis is just the fourth Air Force volleyball player to earn academic all-district honors from CoSIDA. She joins Katherine Dehne (1999), Laura Terry (1999) and Delavane Diaz (2003) as the program's recipients of this prestigious selection.
A four-year setter for the Falcons, Kallabis has had a record-breaking season in 2007, moving into the Academy's record books in several categories. She is currently ranked seventh on the Academy's Division I single-season assists list with 638 helpers, while becoming just the fourth Division I athlete to enter the program's all-time assist list with 1,449 (ninth place).
To be nominated for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are then selected by a vote of the members of CoSIDA within the district. District 7 includes Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming, as well as Alberta and Saskatchewan.
