USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - For the second straight year, Air Force volleyball junior Ayesha Hein was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday, Nov. 7. Earning District VII first-team honors, Hein will now be placed on the national selection ballot.
The award marks the second consecutive year that Hein, who maintains a 3.99 GPA in astronautical engineering, has received academic all-district first-team distinction. She is just the third volleyball player in program history to earn academic all-district accolades in multiple years - and the first two claim first-team status both years.
A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Hein currently leads the team in hitting with a .350 average - a mark that is ranked sixth in the Mountain West. In addition, she has a team-best seven solo blocks, while ranking second on the team in assisted blocks (45), total blocks (52) and service aces (17). In addition, she is currently ranked third on the team in kills with 175.
Hein is one of seven members of the district's first-team list, which includes all Division I programs in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. She is joined on the District 7 first-team by sophomore Avery Acker (Southern Methodist), senior Hannah Allison (Texas), senior Sallie McLaurin (Oklahoma), senior Lena Skipper (New Mexico) and graduate student Bailey Webster (Texas).
