Air Force to Host San Diego State in Televised Match

    The Air Force volleyball team begins a three-match homestand this week, when it hosts San Diego State in a nationally televised Mountain West Conference match on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. The contest, which will air live on The Mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network, is the squad's annual PINK match to support breast cancer awareness. Action begins at 7:30 p.m., at Falcon Court at East Gym.

    HEY LOOK, WE'RE ON TV!
    Matt McShane's squad will make its national television debut this week when they host San Diego State at 7:30 p.m., live on The Mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network. Amy Gant and Anne Marie Anderson will call the action from Falcon Court at East Gym. This will be the first of two nationally televised matches for the Falcons this season.

    PROMOTIONS
    The Falcons will host their annual PINK match against the Aztecs on Thursday, Oct. 21. Fans wearing pink will receive free admission to the match. In addition, the first 200 fans in attendance will receive a free tee-shirt.

    OTHER WAYS TO FOLLOW THE FALCONS
    Live stats will be available for the match and the Academy's cadet radio station, KAFA 97.7 FM, will broadcast live from Falcon Court at East Gym. Both options are available on the calendar page of GoAirForceFalcons.com. Due to the match being televised, GoAirForceFalcons.com is not allowed to video stream the contest.

    GETTING TO 800
    With her final kill against BYU on Oct. 14, Nichole Stilwell recorded the 800th kill of her career. During that match, Stilwell moved from seventh to sixth on the program's all-time Division I list. During her first three seasons, she amassed single season kill totals of 188 (freshman), 189 (sophomore), 249 (junior) and 180 (senior).

    MOVING ON UP
    Kelly Spencer dug her way into the top-five career list and the top-10 single season list for Division I digs over the Oct. 14-16 road trip to Utah. Spencer has accumulated a career-best 246 digs to date this season, moving from 11th to eighth on the single-season list. Those digs helped to bring her career total to 739 - just one dig shy of fourth on the program's Division I all-time list.

    AROUND THE MOUNTAIN
    In the Mountain West Conference, Caroline Kurtz is ranked second in the kills, with a per-set average of 3.49, and sixth in points-per-set with a 3.77 average. Kelly Spencer is ranked seventh with 3.424 digs per set, while Nichole Stilwell's hitting percentage of .278 is ranked 10th. Jessica Hellmann is also ranked among the league leaders in assists per set, with a 5.23 average (ninth).

    MORE MAGIC NUMBERS
    Against Utah on Oct. 16, a pair of Falcons hit the 250 mark for their respective statistics during a single season. Caroline Kurtz collected her 250th kill of the year, while Josalynn Wise claimed her 250th seasonal assist. In addition, Kelly Spencer is just four digs away from reaching the 250 plateau in that stat category.

    WHAT'S ON DECK
    The Falcons remain at home for another week, opening the second half of Mountain West Conference play against TCU and New Mexico. Air Force will host the Horned Frogs on Friday, Oct. 29, before facing New Mexico on Sunday, Oct. 31. The Falcons' Halloween-day match with the Lobos will be televised on CBS-College Sports.
