Falcons to Play Four Matches in Four Days

    The Air Force volleyball team closes out the first rotation of Mountain West Conference action this weekend, hosting San Diego State and UNLV at the Academy. The Falcons welcome the Aztecs to Clune Arena on Friday, Oct. 13, before hosting the visiting Rebels on Saturday, Oct. 14.  Following the homestand, Air Force travels to Mississippi for a pair of non-conference match-ups with Centenary and Alcorn State on Monday, Oct. 16.

    THERE WE ARE ...     JUST BOOK IT: Connecting on seven of 11 attempts (with just one error) against Colorado State, freshman Jocelyn Booker posted a career-best .545 hitting percentage. That is the highest accuracy by any Air Force player this season. Booker has tallied the team's top percentage in five of the last eight matches, clearing the .350 mark on three occasions.

     

    THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM: Air Force had its second straight single-match week before the brunt of October's schedule gets underway. Following its match with Colorado State, the Falcons will play seven matches in a 12-day span.

     

    BY THE NUMBERS: 16 of the Falcons' current 19 players have seen game action. Nine of those have registered at least five kills, 10 have accounted for at least one assist, nine have tallied at least one ace, 15 have registered at least one dig and 10 have accounted for at least one block.

     

    NUMERICAL NONSENSE: Air Force has ended with 18 points in at least one game during six of its first 14 matches, including four of the last six. Four of those 18-point outings have come in the first set. The Falcons' other common number is 17, which they have reached six times.

     

    'RANK' YOU VERY MUCH: The Falcons are currently ranked fourth in the MWC with 1.66 aces per game. TCU (2.26), New Mexico (1.90) and Utah (1.76) are ranked higher at this stage of the season. Junior Rebecca Gerton is tied for second in the league with a 0.41 ace-per-game average. Freshman Jaclyn Fleming is ranked eighth with 3.65 digs per game.

     

    MORE STATISICAL NEWS: With 16 total aces against Norfolk State, Air Force is tied for the lead in the MWC single-match statistics.  Individually, junior Rebecca Gerton is ranked second for the five she put down in that match. Freshman Jocelyn Booker is currently tied for fifth on the league's single-match blocking list, as she was part of eight stops on Morgan State.

     

    ON THE HORIZON: Air Force continues with its jam-packed schedule over the upcoming week.  After returning to the Academy on Tuesday (Oct. 17), the Falcons have just one day at home before hitting the road again to open the second round of conference play at New Mexico (Oct. 20) and TCU (Oct. 21).
