Air Force Heads to UNC For Mid-Week Match-up

    The Air Force volleyball team pulls double-duty this week, with a non-conference road match and a conference home match. The Falcons will travel to Greeley, Colo., tomorrow night (Oct. 5) for a rematch with Northern Colorado at Butler-Hancock Hall. It is the final non-conference match of the season for Air Force, who will host New Mexico on Friday (Oct. 8) in a MWC showdown.

    SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
    With a 10-6 overall record, Northern Colorado is undefeated (5-0) at home this season ... in fact, the last time the Bears lost at home was in 2001 ... since back-to-back losses at BYU and Utah, the Bears have picked up five wins in their last six outings ... UNC has played five Mountain West Conference teams this season (2-3) ... Erin Deffenbaugh leads the program with 267 kills and a 4.45 kills per game average, while three others have also notched over 130 kills and average more that 2.25 a game ... four Bears have recorded triple-digit dig totals, while seven have notched over 20 blocks.

    LAST TIME OUT
    Playing one another for the first time in nine years, Air Force dropped a three-game match to Northern Colorado earlier this season in the Falcons' home opener. UNC narrowly edged the Falcons in game one (31-29), before taking the next two games with matching 30-25 scores.

    ALL-TIME SERIES
    Prior to the match earlier this season at the Academy, the two programs had not faced each other since 1995, when both schools were Division II ... UNC defeated Air Force 3-1 in that match-up ... Air Force's last victory was a 3-2 win in 1994 ... UNC leads the overall series 42-15.
