Volleyball Team Falls to Lobos Despite Valiant Effort
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Air Force volleyball team gave the New Mexico Lobos all they could handle in the team's first Mountain West Conference match. In the end, however, it was the Lobos who came out on top, winning the match in three-games, 16-14, 16-14, 15-10. Air Force falls to 6-6 overall and 0-1 in the MWC with the loss. Senior Ana-Maria Ortega and MWC Player of the Week Delavane Diaz both notched their sixth double-double of the season. Diaz had 14 kills and 14 digs, while Ortega had 11 kills and 15 digs. Senior Shaylor Billings added 21 digs for the Falcons, and Jamie Rempel had nine kills, with a hitting percentage of .316. As a team, UNM hit .159 (52k-28e-151ta) to AFA's .087 (43k-30e-149ta). Defensively the Lobos out blocked the Falcons 12-3. Sophomore setter Kelly Griffin had a solid match with 41 assists and 14 digs. Junior Jessie Goffard added 17 kills and a career-high 19 digs, while Micaela Conley had a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs for the match.

Diego to face the Aztecs of SDSU on Fri., Sept. 29. They then head to
Las Vegas, Nev., Sat., Sept. 28 to take on the Runnin' Rebels of UNLV.
