The Air Force volleyball team closes out the non-conference portion of its season this weekend, when it travels to Greeley, Colo., for the Hampton Inn and Suites Northern Colorado Classic. The Falcons open the two-day tournament against the host Bears at the Bank of Colorado Arena on Friday, Sept. 15, before facing Arkansas-Pine Bluff and South Dakota.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Northern Colorado and South Dakota are both 4-5 on the season, while Arkansas-Pine Bluff is 1-9. The Bears, who will host Ole Miss on Tuesday before beginning their tournament, are coming off of a 2-1 weekend at the Lobo Classic, where they rebounded from a 3-1 loss to Portland to earn victories over UT Arlington (3-1) and New Mexico (3-0). Arkansas-Pine Bluff went 0-3 at the Lady Techster Invitational, suffering 3-0 losses to Louisiana Tech, San Houston State and Memphis, while South Dakota posted a 2-1 mark at the Kangaroo Classic, with victories over UMKC (3-2) and Rutgers (3-1) bookending a 3-1 loss to Northern Iowa.
Air Force is 1-0 against both Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-0 victory in 2009) and South Dakota (3-0 victory in 1990), although the Falcons have never faced the Coyotes at the Division I level. Northern Colorado holds a 53-13 advantage in the all-time series with Air Force, which includes a 9-0 record at the DI level.
WHAT’S ON DECK
The Falcons return to the Academy next week to open Mountain West action. Air Force will kick off the conference season against Nevada on Thursday, Sept. 21, before hosting San Jose State on Saturday, Sept. 23.
