Air Force Volleyball Loses in Closing Match of Season-Opening Tournament

    U.S.A.F. ACADEMY, Colo. (Sept. 4) - The Falcons took on the Bulldogs of Mississippi State this morning in the final match of the Air Force Invitational tournament, forcing the match to a fifth game only to lose to Mississippi in the final game of the afternoon.

    Air Force opened the first game of Monday's match against the Bulldogs with a 15-7 loss. Mississippi kept their momentum throughout most of the second game, and although Air Force was able to come back from behind, the Bulldogs still managed to edge by with a 16-14 win. Air Force was able to regroup for the next two games, winning 15-9, and then completely dominating the fourth game with a 15-4 victory. The Falcons ended up losing the fifth game 15-10. Shaylor Billings managed to notch 16 kills and five digs. Ana-Maria Ortega had 10 kills and 13 digs during the match. C4C Delevane Diaz played well recording 20 kills and 10 digs. C1C Jamie Rempel also had an outstanding match with 13 kills and seven digs. Billings, Ortega and Diaz were all named to the all-tournament team.

    In the match earlier this morning, Jacksonville State defeated Lehigh University in five games, 14-16, 15-10, 8-15, 15-3, 15-8.
