HOUSTON, Texas - Air Force junior Cami Richan was named to the all-tournament team of the Rice Invitational, which concluded yesterday (Aug. 25) in Houston, Texas. Averaging 4.70 kills per set, Richan ranked second among all tournament participants.
The Highland, Utah, native amassed 47 total kills, including a career-best 27-kill output during the Falcons' victory over Arkansas State. Highlighted by a .446 average against ASU, Richan tallied a .240 hitting percentage for the weekend, connecting of 47 of 125 swings, while committing just 17 errors. She also added five digs and three blocks to her stat line.
In addition to ranking among the tournament leaders in kills-per-set, she also ranked second overall in terms of points-per-set with a 4.85 average.
BYU won the Rice Invitational with a 3-0 record, while Air Force Arkansas State and Rice all finished with 1-2 marks. Jen Hamson of BYU was named the tournament's MVP, while Alexa Gray (BYU), Heather Hanneman (BYU), Megan Murphy (Rice), Nancy Cole (Rice), Kelsie Hodges (Arkansas State) and Megan Baska (Arkansas State) joined Richan on the all-tournament team.
