The Air Force volleyball team wrapped up its preseason practice this evening with the Blue-Silver Scrimmage at the Cadet East Gym. Playing three regular sets and one to 15 points, head coach Matt McShane and senior setter Hillary Keltner talked to GoAirForceFalcons.com about their thoughts on practice and the start of the regular season.

    Keltner on This Week's Practice
Practice was really good. We came in on Monday and Matt said `I know it's going to be a tough week, you're sick of playing each other, it's tough to get motivated'. But, I think we really focused on some things and got better. It definitely showed out here on the court tonight."

Keltner on Getting Ready for the Season to Start
I'm excited to finally play somebody else and to have practices where we know we have to focus on (someone else) ... if they've got a big outside hitter or a big jump server. It's finally getting to scout a team and see how we do against someone else."

McShane on the End of Preseason Play
We are so incredibly ready to play someone else. I think our offense is incredibly good, so it makes our defense struggle a little bit, sometimes. I think it's because our offense is so good ... we're in system a ton. We do have to work on defense, but I have a hunch that nobody else is playing offense as good as we are. And we're making some great defensive plays, even with the offensive that we're doing. Our setters are doing an amazing job of getting the hitters one-on-one ... and our hitters like to hit!

Air Force opens its 2014 campaign next Friday (Aug. 29), when it hosts Winthrop at 6:00 p.m., during the first day of the Falcon Classic, in Honor of Amy Svoboda, at the Cadet East Gym. The Falcons will also face Rutgers and SIUE on Saturday (Aug. 30), before closing out the weekend against Cal on Sunday (Aug. 31).
