USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force volleyball team will host preseason scrimmages on Saturday, Aug. 16, and Saturday, Aug. 24, on Falcon Court at East Gym. The open practices, which will give fans their first glimpse of the 2013 squad, will begin at 6:00 p.m., and are free to the public.
The team, under the direction of fourth year head coach Matt McShane, is led by seniors Cami Richan (Highland, Utah) and Josalynn Wise (Amarillo, Texas). The Falcons also return a solid lineup of juniors - Emma Dridge (Allen, Texas), Victoria Foster (El Paso, Texas), Ayesha Hein (Honolulu, Hawaii), Kristen Holt (Edgewood, N.M.), Hillary Keltner (Belleville, Ill.) - and sophomores - Rebecca Bates (West Chester, Pa.), Rachel Bradley Powers (Albuquerque, N.M.), Felicia Clement (Long Beach, Calif.), Taylor Parker (Bozeman, Mont.), Raquel Rosas (Westminster, Calif.) and Maggie Sherrill (Littleton, Colo.) - who have all seen significant playing time during their careers.
The squad added three talented freshmen to its roster with Savannah Banyai (Chandler, Ariz.), Collette Foster (El Paso, Texas) and Lauren Ossolinski (Colorado Springs, Colo.).
Although they lost the program's Division I digs leader Maiya Perich to graduation, the Falcons return all remaining starters from a team that accounted for their most overall (9) and conference (3) victories in nearly a decade.
Air Force officially opens the season on Friday, Aug. 30, at the Pioneer Classic in Denver, Colo.
