Air Force Welcomes Six Newcomers to 2008 Roster

July 24, 2008

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force volleyball team added six newcomers to the program's roster for the 2008 season, including several all-conference, all-area and all-state selections, head coach Penny Lucas-White announced. Three of the six players who are in the midst of Basic Cadet Training are in-state athletes, while four of the six attended the Academy's prep school.

Half of the freshman class hail from the state of Colorado. An all-state selection, Jennifer Kagarise (Monument) was a part of three teams to finish within the top-five at the state tournament. An honorable mention selection, Victoria Martinez (Thornton) helped her team become the first in school history to advance to the regional championships. All-state selection Jasmine Sapp (Arvada) was a four-time all-conference selection and Pomona High School's Female Athlete of the Year.

Two other members of the Falcons' freshmen class hail from Illinois. Allison Laning (Oswego) was a two-time all-conference and all-area selection, while serving as a member of the regional championship team. Eryn Nyre (Barrington), a four-year letterwinner in volleyball, was a member of the first Carmel High School squad to win a regional meet in 10 years. Tiffaney McKinney (Birmingham, Ala.) rounds out the freshman class, bringing a strong background in basketball to the Falcons.

Biographies for the newest Falcons are available on the team roster.
