Four Falcons Selected to MWC Volleyball All-Academic Team
Four Air Force women's volleyball players were named to the 2000 Mountain West Conference all-academic team. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter of significant contributor to the team. Falcon freshmen Delavane Diaz, Katie Dildy and Abby Martinson were joined on the team by sophomore Sarah Kotte. Diaz has a 3.94 GPA and led the Falcons with 326 kills and 244 digs. She ranked third in the conference in kills per game (3.93) and digs per game (2.94). Dildy also carries a 3.94 GPA in biochemistry and was second on the team with 196 assists. Kotte has a 3.62 GPA in behavioral science and recorded 17 kills and 50 digs in 59 games. Martinson holds a 3.36 GPA and collected 23 assists in 16 games. Diaz and Martinson have not yet declared majors.
Air Force finished the regular season with a 6-21 overall record
and placed
eighth in the Mountain West Conference. The Falcons fell to
top-seeded
Colorado State in the first round of the conference tournament.
