USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- Six members of the Air Force volleyball team have been selected to participate at the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts, which will be held this weekend (March 2-4) at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Air Force will be represented by freshman Jordan Daniels, junior Sarah Hellman, freshman Alex King, junior Abigail Miksch, junior Elizabeth Pennington and sophomore Denise Ssozi. The Falcons are some of the 234 athletes from 90 colleges that are participating at the national team tryouts (60 outside hitters, 50 middles, 48 liberos, 44 setters and 32 opposites).
"The National Team tryouts are a great opportunity for our players to test their mettle," Air Force head coach Marc Swindle said. "They will be competing against some of the best college players in the country."
The tryouts will be managed by three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer Karch Kiraly and members of his USNT staff. The tryout will involve four sessions, including focused sessions on serve/receive, middle-centered and out-of-system, and tournament play.
USA Volleyball, which will use the hashtag #USAVTryout on its social media platforms (@usavolleyball) over the weekend, will be live streaming the majority of the event, beginning at 2:00 p.m. (MT) on Friday, March 2.
