Two Volleyball Players Achieve Academic Honors

The Mountain West Conference announced the 2001 Academic-All-Conference team for volleyball, with two Air Force volleyball players making the team. For the second consecutive season, sophomores Delavane Diaz and Katie Dildy were selected to the team. Diaz notched a 3.72 GPA and is majoring in astro engineering, while Dildy, a biochemistry major, notched a 3.79 GPA.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to the team.
Thirty-five student-athletes earned MWC academic honors in 2001, including 22 repeat selections from the 2000 squad. A league-high eight of the 15 Utah volleyball student-athletes qualified for conference academic honors, followed by Wyoming with seven. UNLV had five honorees, followed by San Diego State with four. BYU, Colorado State and New Mexico each qualified three, while Air Force landed two student-athletes on the academic list.
