Three Falcons Receive Academic Honors

    Three Air Force volleyball players were selected to the academic all-conference team. Junior Delavane Diaz earned the honor for the third consecutive season. Junior Jaime Beatty and freshman Kristin Hamlett each won their first award.

    Diaz notched a 3.79 GPA for the fall semester. She is an astro engineering major. Hamlett, whose major is undeclared, had a 3.28 GPA. Beatty is majoring in behavioral science and notched a 3.04 GPA. The three Falcons will be honored by the Academy at the team's banquet on Thursday, Feb. 13th.

    To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to the team.

    An MWC record 42 volleyball student-athletes earned MWC academic honors last fall, including 22 repeat selections from the 2001 squad. A league-high 10 UNLV volleyball student-athletes qualified for conference academic honors, followed by Utah with eight. BYU had seven honorees, followed by San Diego State and Wyoming with five each and New Mexico with four.
