Falcons Place Five on Academic All-Conference Team
Feb. 7, 2008
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Five members of the Air Force volleyball team were named to the Mountain West Conference all-academic team, the league office announced this afternoon (Feb. 7). That is the largest group of Falcons to earn academic all-conference honors in the history of the program, surpassing the previous high of four that were honored in 1999, 2000 and 2004. Senior Kim Kallabis became just the third volleyball player to earn four consecutive all-conference accolades. She joins Delavane Diaz (2000-01-02-03) and Kristin Hamlett (2002-03-04-05) as Falcons within the volleyball program who has earned that distinction. Kallabis holds a 3.71 grade-point-average with dual majors in mathematics and operations research. Junior Jasamine Pettie picked up her second honor with a 3.03 GPA in civil engineering, while three freshmen - Caroline Kurtz (3.94, undeclared), Jessica Hellmann (3.55, undeclared) and Nichole Stilwell (3.36, undeclared) are making their first appearance on the list. A total of 379 student-athletes were named to the fall 2007 Academic All-MWC team. Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
