Volleyball Places Four on Academic All-Conference Team


    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Four members of the Air Force volleyball team were named to the Academic All-Mountain West Conference team, the conference office announced today (Feb. 3). Senior Jenalee Burke (Bakersfield, Calif.), junior Kristin Hamlett (Escondido, Calif.), sophomore Brittany Oligney (Katy, Texas) and Kimberly Kallabis (Camino, Calif.) were four of the 325 student-athletes from football, volleyball, women's soccer, and men's and women's cross country that were named the all-conference academic team.

    Hamlett, the team's 2004 MVP, collected her third academic all-conference selection, while Burke picked up her second straight. Oligney and Kallabis are each making their first appearance on the conference's academic list.

    Kristin Hamlett (Jr.) -- 3.13 -- Biology
    Brittany Oligney (So.) -- 3.85 -- Aeronautical Engineering
    Kimberly Kallabis (Fr.) -- 3.55 -- Undeclared

    This is the third time since joining the Mountain West Conference in 1999 that the Air Force volleyball team has placed four members on the league's academic team.

    To be considered for the Academic All-Mountain West Conference team, the student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, completed at least one academic semester and be a significant contributor on their respective teams.
