Three Falcons Earn Academic All-Conference Honors

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Three members of the 2012 Air Force volleyball team were named to the Mountain West Academic All-Conference Team, the league office announced today (Jan. 31). Senior Maiya Perich paced the trio with her fourth straight academic all-conference selection.

    Perich became the program's seventh player to record academic all-MW honors all four years. Joining the Falcons' team captain on the academic all-conference list was sophomore Ayesha Hein and freshman Rebecca Bates. Hein claimed her second straight selection to the academic all-conference list, while Bates picked up her first.

    A conference-record 409 student-athletes were named to the fall 2012 Mountain West Academic All-Conference team. Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball. To be eligible, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.

    Air Force had 38 cadet-athletes collect academic all-conference honors during the fall.
