The Air Force volleyball team swept Stetson 3-0 (30-13, 30-16, 30-27) to win its opening match of the Falcon Invitational. The Falcons improve to 4-8 overall, while Stetson falls to 3-7.

"We looked solid from the beginning," head coach Penny Lucas-White said. "We are excited to win, but we need to stay focused on our goal of winning the tournament. We still have to play two tough teams."

The Falcons were never challenged in the first two games, winning by a combined 31 points. Their 30-13 victory in game one of the match was their largest game victory of the season. Several non-starters saw action in the final game, which wasn't as close as the 30-27 score would indicate.

The Falcons finished the match with a .309 hitting percentage (47k-94a-18e). Tiffany Bishop led all hitters with 15 kills on 21 attacks and two errors for a career-high .619 hitting percentage. Delavane Diaz had 11 kills and three service aces, while Kristen Hamlett had eight kills and four assisted blocks. Kristin Huitt had 27 assists and a team-high seven digs.

In earlier tournament action, Hofstra defeated San Francisco in three games (42-40, 30-28, 30-16). Air Force faces San Francisco at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 21), followed by Hofstra at 7 p.m.
