Air Force Falls to Eighth-Ranked Stanford

    WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Air Force volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to eighth-ranked Stanford during the opening match of the Service Academy Challenge on Thursday, Sept. 12, at The Pentagon in Washington, D.C. The Falcons fell in straight 25-11, 25-14, 25-15 sets to the Cardinal.

    Sophomore Maggie Sherrill led the Falcons with nine kills, while junior Ayesha Hein added seven. The pair combined for 15 of the team's 31 total kills, while junior Hillary Keltner recorded 24 assists. With seven kills on 11 attempts (and three errors), Hein hit .364 for the match, while sophomores Raquel Rosas and Taylor Parker both hit .400, with three kills on five attempts.

    Sophomore Rebecca Bates, who also accounted for a kill during the contest, led the team with five digs, while senior Josalynn Wise notched the team's lone service ace.

    The Falcons continue competition at The Pentagon tomorrow with a noon match against service rival Army, before closing out the weekend with a contest against Yale at 7:00 p.m.
