Falcons Rally to Victory over the Islanders

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Backed by strong senior leadership, the Air Force volleyball team rallied to take a four-set victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Saturday, Sept. 13, during action at the Air Force Invitational Volleyball Tournament. After dropping the first set 25-23, the Falcons responded with consecutive 25-20, 25-18, 29-27 wins to improve to 3-7 on the year.
Posting a hitting percentage of .267, Stewart was also one of six Falcons to tally kills at a clip of over .250. Air Force recorded a team hitting percentage of .278 - its best output of the season. As a whole, the Falcons collected 55 kills on 133 attempts, while committing just 18 errors.
Freshman Victoria Martinez led the Falcons with 15 digs, while Pettie and junior Michelle Harrington tied for the team lead with four total blocks each (one solo, three assisted). In addition, Harrington recorded the team's only service ace.
Sophomore Stephanie Stanford, who was just two digs shy of a double-double, tallied a team-high 35 helpers.
Air Force concludes tournament action this evening (Sept. 13), when it takes on North Carolina Central in the final match of the Air Force Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
