Ayesha Hein's Hitting Leads Air Force to Victory Over SC Upstate

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Highlighted by Ayesha Hein's impressive .571 hitting percentage (19 kills-three errors-28 attempts), the Air Force volleyball team defeated South Carolina Upstate, 3-1, on Saturday (Sept. 10) during first of two matches on the day for the Falcons at their home tournament. The Falcons took the match by a 25-19, 25-15, 19-25, 25-14 tally. Helping Hein's season-best hitting percentage was a team-leading 19 kills. Sophomores Cami Richan and Claire Bieber added kill totals of 16 and 12, respectively. Richan also collected a double-double with 11 digs - her third double outing of the year. Junior Maiya Perich posted a team-leading 16 digs, while freshman Emma Dridge added 12. Perich also tied for the team lead in service aces, as she and freshmen Hillary Keltner and Megan Clary each put down a pair of aces. Keltner assisted on 31 of the team's 61 kills, while sophomore Josalynn Wise helped out on 14. As a team, the Falcons hit a season-best .293 - connecting on 61 of 140 attempts with 20 errors. Highlighting the outing was a .423 performance (16k-5e-26a) in the second set. Air Force hit over .300 in all three of its winning sets (.378 in the first, .306 in the fourth).
