Andrew "AJ" Joseph is entering his second season as a volunteer coach with the Air Force volleyball team. Joseph brings a strong resume to the Falcons' program, having coached championship teams at both the college and high school level.
Joseph spent the last three years as the head coach of the men's volleyball team at Johnson and Wales University in Denver. The JWU men's team spent two seasons ranked in the NAIA Top 10, rising as high as second during the 2011 season. That year, the team earned an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championships and outside hitter Chris Schardt was named the conference player of the year, as well as JWU-Denver's first-ever NAIA All-American.
As the head coach of the Eckerd men's volleyball team (1995-2000), Joseph led the program to two Final Four appearances and the 2000 NIRSA National Collegiate Championship. He also coached the women's program at Eckerd during the 2002-03 seasons, leading the Tritons to top-10 rankings in the NCAA Division II Southern Region. Joseph also spent five years on the UCCS staff, as both a coach and assistant athletic director with duties in fundraising and travel.
At the high school level, Joseph coached the Cheyenne Mountain High School boys' team to the 2009 state semifinals. He also spent one year as the head coach of the boys and girls volleyball teams at Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs. Under his direction, the boys' team won the Colorado state championship title with three all-state selections, while the girls' team finished as the district runner-up.
Joseph is a 1993 graduate of Eckerd College. While with the Tritons, he was a four-year starter and all-conference selection on the men's intercollegiate club team. As a senior, he captained Eckerd to the NIRSA Final Four.
He and his wife Jennifer, the Athletic Director at Fountain Valley School, have two young children, four-year old Canyon and two-year old Ainsley.
