Kim Gidley Earns Community Service Award
Nov. 30, 2011
Air Force women's tennis head coach Kim Gidley is the recipient of the USTA/ITA Sectional Campus and Community Outreach Award for the Intermountain Section, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced.
Every year, the USTA/ITA Campus & Community Outreach Award is given to a college coach who provides a leadership role in increasing tennis participation throughout the community, both on and off campus.
Under Gidley's direction, Air Force has participated in Wounded Warriors clinics, a Bowl-a-Thon, baked for deployed troops, volunteered at a local elementary school's Halloween Carnival and other community activities.
"The women's tennis team has been very fortunate to receive amazing support through the years," said Gidley, who won the 2009 National Award for Community Service. "It is our goal to give back to tennis and the community in any way possible. (Assistant coach) Nick Dargene and our players have been very committed and generous with their time to support activities that grow tennis and represent the Air Force Academy off the court."
