Falcons Open ITA Regional Championships on Wednesday


    Three members of the Air Force women's tennis team will participate in the 2005 Wilson/ITA Central Region Women's Tennis Championships beginning Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
    Sophomore Lauren Wilson will compete in the qualifying draw for singles on Wednesday, playing Cheyenne Reveche of Utah at 11 a.m. The winner of that match will face the winner of the Marisa Mechem (Denver) and Nora Kurac (Missouri State) at 2:30 p.m. Players must win two matches in qualifying to advance to the main draw, which begins Thursday.
    Senior Kat Bushey is in the main draw for singles and will pair with freshman Christine Abayan in the doubles main draw.
    The tournament features over 120 participants from 29 college teams across the region. Joining Air Force at the tournament are Mountain West Conference schools Utah, BYU, Colorado State, New Mexico and Wyoming as well as other top teams such as Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Tulsa.
    The quarterfinals and semifinals of all draws will be played Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. The consolation and championship finals of both singles and doubles takes place Sunday at 10 a.m.
