Falcons Complete Play at USAFA Invitational


    The Air Force women's tennis team completed play at the USAFA Invitational Sunday with two players finishing second in their respective singles flights. Freshman Meghan Kiser placed second in flight "3", while junior Kelly Morgan did the same in flight "4".

    Suzana Maksovic of Denver won the title in the top singles flight, defeating teammate Annette Aksdal, 7-6, 6-0 in the final. Falcon senior Kat Bushey finished seventh in the 16-player flight by defeating Franzi Jendrian of Colorado, 6-0, 4-6, (11-9). Sophomore Lauren Wilson lost the consolation final to Corina Lazar of Wyoming, 6-2, 6-1.

    Kiser won both of her matches on Sunday, sweeping Kyla Iwinski of Denver, 8-0, then defeated Carmon Vasos of Northern Colorado, 7-5, 6-4. Morgan, meanwhile, defeated Jenny Hanson of Colorado, 6-4, 6-3, on Sunday but fell to flight winner Lorinda Boothman of Denver, 6-0, 6-1.

    The Falcons are idle until the ITA Central Region Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 19.
