Falcons Host USAFA Invitational This Weekend

    2012 USAFA Invitational Brackets Get Acrobat Reader

    The Air Force women's tennis team hosts the 2012 USAFA Invitational this weekend at the Academy. The three-day tournament begins Friday, Oct. 5 at the Academy's outdoor tennis facility. Play starts at 9 a.m. each day and admission is free to all fans.

    Joining the Falcons this weekend are players from Arizona, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma State, Oregon, South Dakota State, Texas Tech, Washington State and Wyoming.

    Air Force sophomore Tiffany Tran will play in the top singles flight. She will face Florencia Magni of South Dakota State in the first round at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

    Four Falcon doubles teams will be on the court at 9 a.m. Friday morning. Seniors Melissa Cecil and Hannah Dake, 7-1 this fall, will play in the top doubles flight and face Brooke Henry and Jenny Blackburne of South Dakota State in the first round, while senior Christine Molina and sophomore Natasha Rizvi will play Laura Oldham and Hailey Johnson of Arizona in the No. 2 flight. Air Force has two doubles teams in the No. 3 flight as Tran and freshman Mary Meyers will play Maddi Hanning and Taylor Schumacher of Northern Colorado, while junior Anastasia Hueffner and sophomore Marcelli Magday will play Rabea Stuckemann and Lena Macomson of Oregon Friday morning.
