Falcons Complete Play at Wyoming Invitational
The Air Force women's tennis team completed play at the University of Wyoming Invitational Saturday with singles matches against Wyoming and doubles matches against Montana State and New Mexico State.
The Falcons began the day by winning one of three doubles matches against Montana State. Senior Kat Bushey and freshman Christine Abayan defeated Vera Vasileva and Nuria Lozano, 8-5. Sophomores Lauren Wilson and Erika Shortridge paired to capture the team's only doubles victory against NMSU, beating Anne Fagegaltier and Paulina Zuniga, 8-6.
Later in the day, Air Force took three of five singles matches from Mountain West Conference foe Wyoming. Bushey started it off with an exciting three-set victory over Patricia Chien, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Shortridge also won in three sets, defeating Michelle Brown, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, while Abayan easily defeated Andrea House, 6-1, 6-1.
The Falcons travel to Lubbock, Texas next weekend for the Texas Tech Invitational, Sept. 30 -- Oct. 2.
