Four Air Force tennis players competed this past weekend at the 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Collegiate Summer Circuit event hosted by the Academy. Joey Brandt, a sophomore on the men's team, won the doubles title and finished second in the singles draw, while Christine Molina, a senior on the women's team, placed second in the women's singles bracket.

Brandt, who played four dual singles matches last season, won two matches before falling to Ashton Kalhorn of Bradley University. Kalhorn, originally from Colorado Springs, rallied to win the title, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Brandt then paired with Tennessee-Chattanooga's Jordan Faith to win the doubles title, 9-8(6), over Maclane Smoke and Chris Schommer.

Molina, meanwhile, captured a pair of straight-set victories before falling to Erin Gebes of Marquette, 6-1, 6-3. Fellow senior Hannah Dake lost to Gebes, 6-4, 7-6(6), in the semifinals. In the women's doubles bracket, Dake paired with senior Melissa Cecil and advanced to the finals before losing to Gebes and Jessika Mozia, 9-7.

The ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit is made up of eight regional circuits (East, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, Central, Mountain, Texas and West) for collegiate players (events are also open to junior players). All eight regions consist of four consecutive open tournaments played during the month of July, leading up to the ITA National Summer Championships in Bloomington, Indiana in August. The ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit began in 1993 and over 30,000 players have competed in circuit events since its inception.
