Rudico and Cassman Earn Academic All-MWC Honors

Erlyn Rudico and Sarah Cassman have been named to the 2008 Academic All-Mountain West Conference team. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.

Rudico, who will be a junior this fall, carries a 3.06 GPA, majoring in biochemistry and was recently named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® University Division At-Large All-District VII Second-Team. She played the majority of the 2007-08 season at No. 1 doubles with Christine Abayan. The pair won the No. 1 doubles match against nationally ranked BYU, then won at the top spot at the MWC Championships against Wyoming. Rudico tied for the team lead with 11 doubles victories in '07-08.

Cassman, meanwhile, finished second on the team with 20 overall singles victories and finished 11-10 in dual matches, most coming at the No. 6 spot. She completed her freshman year with a 3.33 GPA and has yet to declare a major.
