Air Force Falls to BYU, 5-0, at MWC Championships


    The Air Force women's tennis team lost to top-seeded BYU in the first round of the Mountain West Conference Championships Thursday, 5-0. The Falcons, seeded eighth, will face fifth-seeded Utah in the consolation round on Friday in San Diego, Calif.

    BYU earned the doubles point with identical 8-1 victories at No. 2 and 3 doubles. The Cougars then came out in singles play with wins at No. 1, 3, 4 and 6 singles. No. 112-ranked Lauren Jones defeated Kat Bushey at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2, while Rebecca Pike defeated Erika Shortridge at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-0. BYU dropped just 13 games in its four singles wins.
