Christen Monreal Named to All-MWC Team
April 27, 2011
Air Force senior Christen Monreal was selected to the 2010-11 all-Mountain West Conference women's tennis team, announced today by the league. All-conference teams and individual awards are selected by the league's nine head coaches. Monreal is the first Air Force women's tennis player to be named all-conference since Kat Bushey in 2006. Monreal posted 14 overall singles wins this season, including nine dual match wins at the No. 1 position, and won two MWC matches at the No. 1 singles spot. She has 75 singles victories and 61 doubles wins in her career and has led the Falcons to 16 dual match wins in each of her last two seasons. "For four years Christen has represented the Air Force Academy as a great and gracious competitor," said Air Force head coach Kim Gidley. "We are all excited and proud of her - what a well deserved honor!" Monreal will lead the Falcons against Utah in the quarterfinals of the 2011 MWC Championships on Thursday, April 28 in Fort Collins, Colo. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
