    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– Fresno State, the host institution for the 2014 Mountain West Women’s Tennis Championship, has earned the tournament’s No. 1 seed. The Bulldogs, who have won their last five matches, and 12 of the past 13, are ranked No. 68 this season and sport a 13-8 overall record, including a perfect 5-0 mark in Conference play.

    The 2014 MW Women’s Tennis Championship will be held April 23-27 at the Sierra Sport & Racquet Club in Fresno, Calif. First-round action begins on Wednesday, April 23 at 10 a.m. PT. Quarterfinal matches are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. PT on April 25, followed by the semifinals at 10 a.m. PT on April 26. The championship match will take place at 10 a.m. PT on Sunday, April 27.

    New Mexico earned the No. 2 seed. The Lobos finished the regular season with an 15-7 overall record and 4-1 mark in Conference play. San Diego State (11-12, 4-1) is the No. 3 seed and Boise State (13-9, 4-3) is the No. 4 seed.

    Wyoming (10-7, 4-1) will be the No. 5 seed and MW newcomer San José State (11-13, 1-3) received the No. 6 seed. Nevada (11-9, 2-3) is the No. 7 seed and defending tournament champion UNLV (10-10, 2-3) is the No. 8 seed. Air Force (13-8, 2-3), Conference newcomer Utah State (13-9, 1-5) and Colorado State (3-13, 0-6) round out the bracket as the ninth, 10th and 11th seeds, respectively.

    Wednesday’s first round gets underway at 10 a.m. PT with No. 8 UNLV facing off with No. 9 Air Force. Two matches get underway at 2 p.m. PT with No. 7 Nevada versus No. 10 Utah State and No. 6 San José State opposing No. 11 Colorado State.

    Quarterfinal play on Friday, April 25 begins at 10 a.m. PT with No. 4 Boise State and No. 5 Wyoming. The Bulldogs will meet the winner of the Lady Rebels/Falcons match. In the afternoon session, the Lobos will play either the Wolf Pack or Aggies, while the Aztecs square off against the winner of the Spartans-Rams match.
