Falcons Battle Wyoming at MWC Championships

The Air Force women's tennis team will open play at 2006 Mountain West Conference Championships on Wednesday, April 26 in San Diego. The Falcons, seeded eighth, will face ninth-seeded Wyoming at 10 a.m. for the right to play top-seeded TCU in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 27.

Air Force (9-17, 1-7 MWC) claimed its only league victory of the season over Wyoming (8-14, 0-8), downing the Cowboys 4-3 on March 4 at the Academy.

Senior Kat Bushey and freshman Christine Abayan had an outstanding season at the No. 1 doubles spot in 2005-06. They finished the regular season with a 28-13 record, the most by a Falcon doubles team since moving to Division I in 1996. The previous mark of 26 was held by Brooke Parsons and Laura Nigro during the 2001-02 campaign. Bushey and Abayan were 17-9 at the No. 1 spot this season, including a 4-4 record vs. MWC opponents.
