Falcons Battle Wyoming at MWC Championships on Wednesday

    The Air Force women's tennis team will face Wyoming in the first round of the 2009 Mountain West Conference Championships on Wednesday, April 22. The match will begin at 10 a.m. at the Jerry Cline Tennis Center in Albuquerque, N.M.

    The 50th-ranked Rebels of UNLV enter the 2009 Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Championship as the No. 1 seed after posting a perfect 8-0 record (17-6 overall) en route to the Mountain West regular-season title. Opening-round action begins Wednesday, April 22, with quarterfinals set to follow on Thursday, April 23. Semifinal play takes place on Friday, April 24 with the championship scheduled for Saturday, April 25, at 10 a.m. MT.

    No. 28 TCU (13-10, 7-1 MWC) will be the No. 2 seed, while 42nd-ranked San Diego State (17-7, 6-2 MWC) captured the No. 3 seed. No. 57 BYU (12-9, 5-3 MWC) claimed the No. 4 spot, while New Mexico (8-13, 4-4 MWC) will be the No. 5 seed, No. 65 Utah (11-12, 3-5 MWC) will be the No. 6 seed and Colorado State (8-12, 2-6 MWC) will be the No. 7 seed. Rounding out the bracket is No. 8 seed Wyoming (7-15, 1-7 MWC) and No. 9 seed Air Force (10-16, 0-8 MWC).

    Quarterfinal action begins at 10 a.m. MT Thursday, April 23, featuring No. 2 TCU vs. No. 7 Colorado State and No. 3 San Diego State vs. No. 6 Utah. Thursday's second set of quarterfinals is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. MT, with top seed UNLV taking on the winner of the Wyoming-Air Force match and No. 4 BYU squaring off against No. 5 New Mexico. Semifinal contests will be played at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. MT on Friday, April 24, with the championship match set for 10 a.m. MT on Saturday, April 25.
