Falcons Fall to No. 41 New Mexico, 6-1
The New Mexico women's tennis team, ranked No. 41 in the country, rolled to a 6-1 victory over Air Force Saturday in the last conference match of the regular season for both teams. The win gives the Lobos a 6-1 record in the Mountain West Conference and a second place finish, while the Falcons ended up with an 0-7 league mark and finished eighth.
New Mexico (14-8) captured all three doubles matches and five of the six singles contests. Freshman Lauren Wilson, a pleasant surprise all season for head coach Kim Gidley, won AFA's only match at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-1 over Nora Quintal. The Falcons (8-14) will travel to Las Cruces, N.M. for a match on Sunday against New Mexico State. The two teams were scheduled to play on Feb. 5, but the match was cancelled due to poor weather.
