USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force women's tennis team wraps up its 2006 regular season with a pair of home matches this week. The Falcons, 9-15 overall and 1-5 in the Mountain West Conference, will battle Utah (8-9, 0-5 MWC) on Thursday, April 13 at 10 a.m., and 27th-ranked BYU (15-6, 3-2) on Saturday, April 15 at 10 a.m. Both matches are scheduled for the Academy's outdoor courts, but will be moved indoors in case of inclement weather.

The matches will be the final ones at the Academy for Falcon senior Kat Bushey (Wilmington, Del.), who has played No. 1 singles for the last two seasons. She is 19-19 overall in singles this season, including a 12-12 record at No. 1 singles. She has had a very impressive doubles campaign with freshman Christine Abayan. The pair are 26-13 overall and 15-9 at the No. 1 spot.

For her career, Bushey is 68-77 overall in singles and 83-61 in doubles. The highlight of the 2005-06 season was last fall when Bushey and Abayan became the first Air Force women's doubles team to advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional Championships. They defeated the tournament's top-seeded team from BYU at the tournament.

The Falcons have hot a rough stretch lately, dropping two of their last eight matches. Four of the losses came to nationally ranked teams in the MWC.

Following the matches this week, Air Force will take a few weeks off before competing at the MWC Championships in San Diego, Calif., beginning on Thursday, April 27.
