Falcons Fall to San Diego State, 6-1, in MWC Opener


    The Air Force women's tennis team dropped its first Mountain West Conference match of the season Thursday to the San Diego State Aztecs, 6-1, in Las Vegas, Nev. With the loss, Air Force is now 8-8 overall this season.

    SDSU captured the doubles point with easy wins at all three positions. Junior Kat Bushey and sophomore Karissa Walker lost the No. 1 match, 8-4, to Dita Hauerlandova and Alesya Vidov. The Aztecs then won the No. 2 and 3 matches, 8-1 and 8-3, respectively.

    Senior Miclynn Crail posted the lone singles victory for Air Force, winning the No. 6 match, 6-1, 6-4, over Carla Bell. Vidov defeated Bushey, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 1, while Walker took Hauerlandova to three sets at the No. 2 spot before falling, 4-6, 6-2 and 10-4 in the third-set tiebreak. The Aztecs won the other three singles matches in straight sets.

    The Falcons continue MWC play on Saturday, March 26 against UNLV at 10 a.m.
