Air Force sophomore Christen Monreal has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, announced today by the conference office.

Monreal, from San Antonio, Texas, went a combined 6-0 last weekend as Air Force won dual matches against Montana (5-2), Metro State (7-0) and Idaho State (7-0). In singles play, she started the week at the No. 2 position, where she defeated Amanda Bran of Montana in straight sets (6-3, 6-1). Monreal then moved to the No. 1 position, where she was victorious over Metro State's Amanda Bowling (6-2, 6-1) and Idaho State's Lisel Lewis (6-0, 6-2). Monreal also teamed with Allie Chermel to defeat Montana's Kayla Moyse and Lauren Gibson (8-1) at the No. 3 position. At the No. 2 spot, Monreal and Chermel beat Metro State's April Hirad and Miriam Evangelista (8-1), and Idaho State's Lewis and Risa Fujiwara (8-3).

The Falcons (6-5) host Akron and Weber State this Friday, Feb. 20 at 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
