AIR FORCE vs. ROCKHURST
Air Force travels to Kansas City, Missouri, for non-conference double-header action against Rockhurst and Missouri-Kansas City, Sunday, Feb. 11, at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. (CT), respectively.
LAST TIME THEY MET: Last season, Air Force defeated UMKC, 4-0, in a non-conference match at the Cadet Gymnasium Indoor Tennis Courts at the Academy.
The Falcons won the doubles point, posting victories at No. 1 and 2. TJ Fumagalli and Elizabeth Barnickel beat Melinda Johnson and Yana Grechkina, 6-0, while Chloe Forlini and Jocelle Rudico were 6-1 winners over Mariam Kurasbediani and Thanushree Vale at No. 2.
Fumagalli picked up a win at No. 2 singles, beating Johnson, 6-0, 6-0, while Barnickel beat Kurasbediani, 7-6, 6-2, at No. 3. Nadeen Lieberman clinched it for the Falcons with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Marina Albert at No. 4.
In the 2016 matchup, Air Force rolled past Rockhurst, opening with the doubles point and sweeping all six singles matches. Jocelle Rudico and Chloe Forlini were 7-6 (4) winners at No. 1 while Lily Forlini and Nelson won 6-1 at No. 3. Mary Meyers won 3-6, 6-2, 10-2 at No. 1 singles while Chloe Forlini was a 7-5, 6-0 winner at No. 2 and Barnickel locked up the win in the third spot, 6-2, 6-3. Rudico won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4, Lily Forlini won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 and Nelson was a 6-7 (5), 6-4, 10-7 winner at No. 6.
LAST WEEKEND: Air Force posted a clean sweep in doubles action and five straight-set singles wins to sweep Metro State, Friday evening in the Indoor Tennis Courts of Cadet Gymnasium. On Sunday, the University of Colorado edged by Air Force, 4-3, in hard fought loss in Boulder, Colorado. The loss marked the Falcons’ first of the season.
