Air Force freshman Tiffany Tran has been named the Mountain West Women's Tennis Player of the Week, announced today by the conference office.

Tran, a product of Laguna Niguel, Calif., went a combined 5-1 last weekend as Air Force swept three matches on the road, defeating New Mexico State (6-1), Northern Arizona (6-1) and UTEP (4-3). Tran won all three of her matches at No. 3 singles, including a come-from-behind victory over UTEP's Carolina DeLuca to clinch the team match for Air Force. With the Falcons and Miners tied, 3-3, Tran lost the first set to DeLuca, 2-6, then saved a match point before winning the second set 7-6. In the decisive third set, Tran trailed 1-5 before holding off three more match points and winning the match in a tiebreaker.

Tran won her other two matches at the No. 3 position, defeating New Mexico State's Ginet Pinero 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, and rallying to defeat Northern Arizona's Malia Wahinepio, 4-6, 7-5, (10-3). She also went 2-1 in doubles with junior Christine Molina.

The Falcons (6-1) play Nebraska and Northern Iowa this weekend in Lincoln, Neb.
