falcons Open Spring Season Against Colorado
Jan. 22, 2007 The Air Force women's tennis team opens its 2007 spring season on Tuesday, Jan.23 when it hosts in-state rival University of Colorado at the Academy's Indoor Tennis Courts. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. The Falcons are led by sophomore Christine Abayan, who played in the top singles bracket in each tournament for Air Force last fall. She finished third at the Texas Tech Invitational and paired with senior captain Kelly Morgan to place third in the top doubles bracket at the USAFA Invitational. Abayan was 20-18 in singles play last season and teamed with Kat Bushey, who graduated last spring, to post a school-record 29 doubles victories. Rejoining the team this season is senior Karissa Walker, who did not play in the spring or fall of 2006. Juniors Lauren Wilson and Erika Shortridge along with sophomore Meghan Kiser, also return. Air Force plays two more home matches on Friday, facing South Dakota State at 8 a.m. and Eastern Washington at 3 p.m.
