Two Falcons Capture Titles at Matador Invitational

    Sophomore Tahlia Smoke won the "C" singles flight and junior Christen Monreal captured the "D" flight title Sunday on the final day of the Matador Women's Tennis Invitational hosted by Cal.-State Northridge. Each Falcon defeated a teammate in her respective final as Air Force wrapped up its 2009 fall schedule.

    Smoke downed junior Katrina Eromin, 6-3, 6-3, while Monreal downed sophomore Shannon Young, 6-4, 7-5. Freshman Christine Molina also had a successful Sunday, winning two matches to take the "A" flight consolation title. She defeated Florence De Vrye of Nevada, 7-5, 6-3 in the semis, then Natalia Lozano of UC-Santa Barbara, 4-6, 7-6, 10-3.

    The Falcons open their spring season on Saturday, Jan. 16 against the University of Colorado in Boulder at 11 a.m.
