    The Air Force women's tennis team wrapped up its fall tournament season on Sunday with final day action at the SDSU Fall Tennis Classic II in San Diego, Calif. The Falcons won three singles matches and one doubles match on Sunday. With Saturday's rainout, the finals were not played.

    Senior Tahlia Smoke earned a thrilling three-set win over Caroline Schnell of Denver, 7-6, 6-7, 10-8, while freshman Tiffany Tran beat Alyssa Caffrey of New Mexico, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 and fellow freshman Marcelli Magday downed Logan Finnell of Loyola Marymount, 6-2, 6-4. Junior Melissa Cecil came within a few points of defeating Ali Facey of UC -Irvine before falling 6-7, 7-6, 15-13.

    In doubles, Tran and junior Christine Molina downed Nikolina Grbac and Kristen Eggleston of Mountain West rival New Mexico, 8-6.

    The Falcons open their 2012 spring season on Friday, Jan. 20 against the University of Colorado in Boulder. The match is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
