Falcons Complete Day One at Houston Quad Tourney

The Air Force women's tennis team completed day one of the Houston Quad Tournament Friday on the campus of the University of Houston with several close losses but some impressive victories.
Senior captain Kelly Morgan and junior Lauren Wilson were the only Falcons to win their first round match in singles on Friday. Morgan, playing in flight C, downed Aziza Abi Butan of North Texas, 7-6(5), 6-4, before dropping a heartbreaking three-set match to Sonja Nikolic of Houston, 6-4, 5-7, 10-8, in the semifinals.
Wilson, meanwhile, won her first round match in flight B, defeating Rebecca Franzi of Houston, 6-0, 6-2. Wilson will play her semifinal match Saturday morning.
Sophomores Christine Abayan and Meghan Kiser each suffered a three-set loss in the first round. Abayan, playing in flight A, dropped a 2-6, 6-2, 10-7 decision to Megan Schmubach of North Texas, while Kiser lost her match in flight B to Houston's Anna Djananova, 6-1, 3-6, 10-5.
The Falcons will begin doubles play on Saturday.
