Falcons Keep Playing at UNM Invitational

    The Air Force women's tennis team continued singles play Friday at the UNM Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. Senior Erika Shortridge was the only Falcon to win a match in the main draw Friday, defeating Alex Rios of New Mexico State, 6-3, 6-0 in the first round of flight B. Unfortunately, Shortridge dropped a heartbreaker in the quarterfinals, losing 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 to Vicky Michaud of UTEP.

    Freshman Erlyn Rudico is in the semifinals of the flight A semifinals after beating Silvia Irimescu of Idaho, 6-2, 7-5. Rudico lost her first-round match to Stacey Housley of Boise State, 6-3, 6-1.

    Meanwhile, at the ITA Central Region Tournament in Tulsa, Okla., senior Lauren Wilson was eliminated after losing to Klaudia Wlodarczyk of Boise State, 6-0, 6-0 in the consolation round.

    The six Falcons at the UNM Invitational will continue play on Saturday.
