Falcons Continue Play at Two Tournaments

    The Air Force women's tennis team completed action at two separate tournaments Thursday. Three players played at the ITA Central Region Tournament in Tulsa, Okla., while six others are at the UNM Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.

    Senior Lauren Wilson lost in the round of 64 at the ITA Central Region Tournament, 6-1, 6-2, to Ola Abou-Zekry of New Mexico and will play in the singles backdraw on Friday. Meanwhile, juniors Christine Abayan and Meghan Kiser dropped a heartbreaking, 9-8 decision to Karine Bourdages and Jane Kryunchova of Utah in the doubles round of 64.

    At the UNM Invitational, one round of doubles was played on Thursday. Sophomore Erlyn Rudico and freshman Samantha Sarkis combined to beat Silvia Irimescu and Jana Siwa of Idaho, 8-6, to advance to the semifinals of flight "A".

    The Falcons' other two doubles teams, freshmen Christen Monreal and Sarah Cassman and senior Erika Shortridge and freshman Katrina Eromin, both lost on Thursday in flight "B" and will continue in the consolation round this weekend.
